Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York’s third annual golf tournament sees 44% in participation over 2025

The Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York (LASNNY) announced that its 2026 Golf Classic welcomed 44% more participants than last year’s event, reflecting growing community support for no-cost legal aid across its 16-county service area.

Held at the Fairways of Halfmoon in Mechanicville, N.Y., this year’s tournament marked the third annual Golf Classic and brought together attorneys, law firms, businesses, and community supporters committed to strengthening access to justice for low-income individuals and families.

“The support we receive through the Golf Classic helps ensure that low-income families and vulnerable individuals in our communities can access the legal help they need during some of the most difficult moments of their lives,” said Nic Rangel, Esq., executive director of LASNNY.

Proceeds from the event help sustain LASNNY’s work assisting individuals and families facing domestic violence, disability-related barriers, housing instability, and other civil legal challenges. In 2025 alone, LASNNY closed more than 9,000 cases across northeastern New York.

“The Golf Classic is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when the legal community and our partners come together in support of justice,” said Morgan Ruthman, Esq., board president, LASNNY. “We are deeply grateful to every sponsor, golfer, and supporter who made this year’s event a success.”
