Medical Legal Partnership for Children and Families
The Legal Aid Society’s Children’s Law Project is partnering with Albany Medical Center Pediatric Group. We are working together in order to make sure that children get all the help that they might need. LASNNY is in the process of developing and conducting an onsite children’s legal needs assessment and fostering relationships with pediatric medical professionals.
The legal needs assessment will help to identify unmet legal needs in the community and assist LASNNY in securing funding to meet these needs. We hope to provide healthcare professionals with an additional tool to improve the health of their young patients by placing a lawyer onsite to do intake, legal counseling and consultation, train healthcare staff and provide technical assistance to healthcare professionals.

Special Education Taskforce
The Children’s Law Project attorney also serves as the Co-Chair of the Special Education Taskforce, a group comprised of over 200 parent advocates, school district staff, attorneys and other individuals who specialize in Special Education Law, and work collaboratively to ensure that children with disabilities are educated in the least restrictive setting and receive a free and appropriate education.
